A little more than a LBD

Hey! So how is your week going? I have so much to do! Christmas is upon us and I literally need to "Deck the Halls".  The kid's expect it and our annual Ugly Christmas Sweater Party is coming up. I have to get the trees and decor up ASAP.  

   So let's talk about fashion. I love going on vacation because I can wear so many outfits everyday. Bathing suits and cover-ups, casual clothing for shopping, touring and lunch. And then the ultimate, evening clothes. I love dressing up in fancy clothes. :) So when I was looking at this dress at the Body Central for $60 dollars I wanted it but wasn't going to pay that. Then the sales lady came up and offered me a discount for signing up for text alerts. I obviously agreed because I received another 15% off the same purchase by text. By using both discounts I ended with a total of $20 for the dress. Well worth it. 

        
  I loved it. It is sexy and shiny! What is not to love!?

 

The shoes were a splurge for vacation but I know I will wear them for years. I have wanted a pair of glittery heels for awhile anyways and this dress was a perfect excuse to but them. I did get in on a summer sale at a local store, ZCollections, and only paid $20 for the heels too. 

So I added some jewelry that I already owned and rocked a $40 outfit. I think it was a Fashion Find!

We had a 9 course dinner served at one of the VIP exclusive restaurants with friends this night and I felt the dress was perfect. :) What do you think?

Black & White

Hey!  Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving! I ate way to much. Tomorrow I am am going to have to hit the treadmill and weights. UGH! So I didn't do the Black Friday shopping this year. I am saving money for a family vacation and the kids decided one present and stockings this Christmas. We feel like the lifetime memories and family time we will get from a vacation are much more valuable than presents this year. I am itching to use the TURKEYFUN Coupon Code on Travelocity today for 16% off bookings though...sigh.

   So I wore this dress to dinner while on vacation this past week. The lighting made the pics fuzzy and I apologize. I wish they would have turned out clearer also. But this dress is just so wonderful. It is light and silky with a classic black and white pattern. I received multiple compliments all evening and felt really comfortable in it. All for $11. It was on the clearance rack at Rue21 in the late spring of this year.
                

I already had the shoes. Black patent leather straps with black, white and cork bottoms, they compliment so many styles of dresses I own. i purchased them at Macy's for $21 in May of 2013. I purchased them for a Michigan trip with the family and just love them. The bracelet and earrings are from a $5 set from Factory Connection and the necklace was purchased at Fashion Bug before they went out of business. I paid $10 for it and while I feel like that is a lot I like the multi strand with black crystal beading.

Turquoise Beach

Hey! So I as I let you know earlier I was in Cancun for a week and I had to put in a lot of hours at work to balance leaving. My next few posts will be of outfits I wore while on vacay. I hope you enjoy the scenery as well as the outfits and savings! :)

I love this turquoise jumper. It has just the right amount of everything to me. Classic cut, sexy, casual but elegant. And I paid $7 for it. Yes. Seven dollars. It was on the clearance rack at Factory Connection in August. It has a liner so could be wore into late fall with a scarf or wrap. I love it. I had been looking for a jumper just like this and bought it as soon as I saw it.  I feel like the style will last many years. What do you think? 

I wore it with the wood heels from JustFab and some gold chains and earrings that I bought at BigLots. I try not to take very expensive jewelry on vacation. The salt air and water is hard on it and if I lose a piece I haven't lost something I can't replace.

Hey! OMG! So sorry I haven't posted forever but I have been in Mexico! It is Thanksgiving and I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has stopped by and read my blog. I hope you are enjoying it and getting some good deals. I am thankful you stop by and give it a look.
 Anywho I have been working the last 2 days non-stop so this evening I will get a new post up. I was able to wear lots of my new outfits while on vacation so we will talk about them later. :)

Summer Fun Love

Hey! It has been a few days since I had a moment to think about fashion...not really. I actually have been immersed in it. I have been going through my closet and deciding what to pack! I have a big trip to Cancun coming up soon! I am so excited. I have had a heck of a time pairing down what to pack while leaving enough room in my husband's suitcase for souvenirs. :)  So between work and the last of the banquets and awards ceremonies for my youngest child's high school sports I haven't had a chance to shop. But I do have a cute little dress and sunglasses that I snagged earlier this season on clearance I want to share with you. I can't wait to wear it to the beach even if my son said my glasses look like a fifth graders. ;)'

      Hey! So my youngest child is now a licensed driver. This is a scary and exciting and sad time for me. He is a pretty good kid. The driving instructors said he was one of the best drivers that had come through the AAA program and that he had a lot of experience. But he is my baby and I feel nervous and scared for him the same as I feel proud of him. UGH!!! Hard day...sigh.

   So I had to work today and I did not see any amazing deals you needed to know about yesterday so I took the day to myself.  I didn't even wear an outfit that I had scored for an awesome deal. Well I did get the boots with a coupon and the jeans were hand-me-downs...

 



so  maybe not so bad after all. I did pay full price for the shirt last fall at Rue21. I like the shiny gold sleeves and it looks good with the gold spikes and style of the boots.

 

        I bought the necklace somewhere on clearance but for the life of me can not remember where or for how much.

Under $40 Fashion

      Hey! I spent my day doing the laundry. I forced myself to run half of a mile then I showered, added make-up and hopped in the tanning bed for a few. After all that was accomplished I went to the grocery store and spent more money than I wanted to. :(  Eating healthy costs way too much and I am not even eating as healthy as I would like because of the expense! I am thinking about using Amazon Pantry, have you seen it? They sent me an email and I think it might be cheaper than shopping at Walmart. I think it is something that needs to happen, I will tell you if I like it.

               Anywho... So obvi I had to get dressed up a little to go out in public so here is my Fashion Find outfit I sported while buying apples and pizza rolls. :)   

                       

 

             I paired the new houndstooth/bird print tube scarf I purchased from Rue21 for $4.02 after coupon codes with a plain black long sleeved scoop neck tee I purchased for $3 off the clearance rack at DOTS before they went out of business(that sucked when they closed). I purchased four of these tees that day in different colors and wear them all often. The boots are from JustFab and I think one of the more perfect cut black riding boots I have seen. 

          It is very comfortable and I love the smooth,simple but elegant design of the gold metal detail. These boots came at a comfortable price at $31.96. I went with a simple gold hoop earring and my jeans are a pair that my awesome son's awesome girlfriend gave me. Yeah!! I wanted something stylish yet comfortable at the grocery store and around the house for evening chores and putting away the groceries. These boots fit that bill. 

         So I wore an up-to-date fashion outfit for a whopping total of  $38.99!!! I think that is pretty unbelievable for this look! Let me know what you think!

Summer Fashion Find

Hey! I have worked the last couple of days and have only had the chance to wear house clothes and and work clothes. :(

           No playing dress up for me so I am going to jump back to summer and a dress I found on the clearance rack at Rue21.  I thought it was very mod 50's housewife.  I loved the feminine look of the lacy flower material and the cut and color were appealing to me also.

       I like yellow but it is hard for me to find yellow clothes that I like so I was beyond thrilled to add this to my wardrobe. And for $11.00!!! Yes, I said $11. An awesome price on this dress and I still had plenty of time to wear it this season. I paired it with some simple pearls that I already owned and the shoes were a pair that I had from JustFab.

    These shoes I did pay the full $39.95. I did not have a code at the time and this shoe was selling out quick. I felt it was a versatile shoe that I could wear with many outfits that I already own. Plus the creamy ivory with the strappy heel will hold it's style for many years.

     I have since purchased these shoes to wear with it because I liked the style of the new shoes with the cut and material of the dress.  I spent $30 on the new shoes at JustFab with a coupon code. They just look more 50ish than the strappy sandals. What do you think?

Off Season Buys

     Hey! Just a little heads-up; I do not like cold weather and will probably complain about it often. I mean, unless you are tubing, skiing or you just want to wear a fur why would anyone want to be where it is cold?! I blame my parents for living in Ohio. I can't go too far away from my Momma so I suffer 5 months of bad weather. UGH!. I am seriously going to have to change all my profile pictures to those of beaches really soon.

So let's talk about off-season shopping. I always try to pick up a few pieces to add to my wardrobe or my family's off the clearance rack at the end of each season. Items like swimming trunks/bathing suits,  sweaters, wool pieces, etc can always be used the following year and purchased at a more affordable price. New styles or trends will usually carry over for another year also so don't be afraid to grab that super deal on "In" pieces. Classic pieces are always an excellent find. You know the staple pieces that we should all have they show us in the magazines. The ones I am getting better at purchasing like maybe sometimes  I am becoming a grown-up. :) White/black tees, that perfectly cut blazer, white button down and anything black or white or black and white. Right?  Lol  

       Like this sweater that I found at Belk's for $7 back in early summer. I just felt like it had a timeless cut and color. The built in sheer white under shirt makes it feel feminine and the sweater is soft and thick. I feel it has a cut for most any body type and the black and white color and pattern will never go out of style. It is a high quality sweater and will last me many years. I paired it with a pair of houndstooth flats that I bought last winter on clearance at Walmart for $8. I love the 3 patent straps that cross the toe on them and see these always being a go to piece for casual and dressy outfits. It is a good bet houndstooth is never going to go out of style.

       And these jeans were hand-me-downs from my son's wonderful girlfriend, thank you! I always give our old clothes away and was pretty thrilled to have some given to me! 

        The earrings are simple black chandelier drops that I wear all the time. My owl necklace. I love this necklace and I think it goes so well with this sweater. I do not find a chance to pair it with too many outfits but I just love the feathers and dangling, crystal eyes.  I bought this a few years ago at Fashion Bug before they went out of business(sad face). All-in-all I really like this outfit. It is chic.  :)

Fall Fashion Splurge

Hey! Winter is coming too fast peoples! It is below freezing out there and I have to be honest and say the only thing I like about cold weather is sweaters and boots. And scarves, leg warmers and anything that is fluffy and furry that I can wear.  I went through my closet and straightened it all up in preperation for winter. I unboxed all my boots and refolded and fluffed my sweaters rearranging as I went to make room for all the new deals I have been finding. Now it is all pretty with everything organized by color and type. I love looking at my closet,, is that weird? Come on,, admit it,, you stand and look inside your closet too.  If you don't I guess you really need to keep following me so you can get some awesome Fashion Finds and love your closet too. :) 
    
               

  Anywhos, let me show you what I got this week. I am loving this sweater. I love the length, the colors and the front pocket is cool but not bulky and lumpy.  I would like to have a couple more in different colors but the price $19.99 on sale ,while a great price, is just not where I want it to be yet. So I only bought one in the colors I liked best. 

 

           The sweater leggings were on sale Buy1Get1 for $5 at Rue21. I picked the gold leggings for this outfit. It was perfect to bring out the brightest color in the sweater and I just loved the rich gold color for fall. I love gold! The leg warmers are from my Rue21 order that I posted yesterday. I chose the deep brown to balance the bright gold. I love the look of leg warmers and wooly socks showing out of the tops of boots so obvi I am loving this. :)  I used the same boots I have worn before in other outfits but that just shows how good JustFab is. I have 5 pairs of boots from them and could not tell you how many times I have worn them all, like everyday!

 

      I wanted my accessories for this outfit to be fun. I am really liking owl jewelry, lol. I think I have actually wore an owl piece 3 times this week. These earrings came from Factory Connection.  I purchased them a few weeks ago for $1.98. I love the size and colors along with the combination of using thread and stones. And they ended matching this sweater perfectly IMO. I added the comic strip bracelets that I bought for $1 a piece at Walmart over 10 years ago( I am not a hoarder) and the wood bracelet to keep it earthy.

Big Savings on a Big Haul

Hey!  It looks like the East side of the country is wet, cold and wintery. Bbbrrr. It is definetly time to pull out the sweaters and boots. I added tights and leg-warmers today. But you won't get to see that until later because my shipment from rue 21 came in and we need to talk about that. Did you use those coupon codes yet? I saved $52.46 and ended with a total of $101.29 after Uncle Sam's share of $6.85. 

It arrived!!!

    Which is a nice little chunk of change to dish out on clothes but I needed them. No seriously, it was a need. And it doesn't matter anyways because if you save over $50 it is almost like you didn't pay for half the stuff you get. So .... that is how I explain it to my husband and he just nods so A. he gets my mathmatical reasoning or B. he isn't really listening. Whatevs, both ways work for me. :)

I really did get an amazing amount of stuff for $101.29. 2 sweaters, a pair of tights, 2 tube scarfs with dual patterns, 3 pairs of leg-warmers and 2 pairs of boots.  I shared the pics of them with you here and can't wait to show them in completed outfits. They delivered super fast. I ordered them on 10/27 after dinner and they were delivered on 10/31 by 3pm. I will have to exchange the shorter boots because there is some damage to the material but I have never had an issue with exchanges at Rue21.

Black leggings, a need. Or I would freeze.
