Hey! So today's blog is going to be a little different for a couple of reasons. It is Christmas time so I think it is extremely appropriate to do a Christmas post. And I want to try and share my blog on ThriftyDecorChick:Christmas Tree party 2014, a blog Open House Christmas Tour! I always read and look at the Holiday Home Tours on other blogs and always wanted to join one! So here I go! I am going to go and give it a try! :)
I do wish I had went all out on Decorations like I usually do but I think we talked about it before, it just didn't happen this year. But anywho, they are still Tour worthy in my mind.
So, WELCOME!!! Come with me through our home and take the moment to celebrate Christmas with us. :)
I usually have 5-7 Christmas trees up. This year we have two. Some of the house seems a little bare but we are very happy with the decorations and the trees we put out this year. some things we have placed in different places and others used different ways. I am liking it and have some new ideas for next year due to changes I had to make this Season.
Let us begin in the foyer which I keep meaning to buy a Poinsettia for! :(
It is usually a little more festive...I need to go buy that plant!
Thankfully you can see the banister that leads up to the second level from the foyer. It is one of the many things I love about decorating our home for Christmas.
The dining room is our Gold Room. Gold tree with gold accent throughout the room. I didn't go all out on my mantle this year but am quite pleased with the overall look of the room. I did add my Reindeer linen cover( a gift from our dear friends in Germany) with the kissing couple in the old glass jar and the bowl of antique ornaments. The red "Merry Christmas" ornament hung on my Mother's tree when I was a child.

Our living room is the "heart" of Christmas for family and our decorations. We only put out a few of the decorations(no village this year :( ) but we made sure we stood and decorated our large 10' black Christmas Tree! Yes it is black! But it is just such a beauty with all the red and gold decorations and flowers shoved all over it! We love our BIG tree. It is the centerpiece of our Christmas decor and the kids sit right below it on Christmas morning. Our furry family members love it too. They like to lay underneath it and the lights will twinkle in their loving shiny eyes...Sigh. Let's get on with this tour, I am going to bore you with sappy thoughts.
The Santa Claus tree topper is 21 years old. He has been on top of every tree since our oldest son's First Christmas.
Sorry about the flash! I could not get a good pic without it. I cut all the greenery from our yard for all of our home each year. We love our double tiered fireplace mantel.
I added the little clock by Santa Claus without the batteries and stopped it at Midnight!
The decorations throughout the rest of our home are a collection of decorations that we have bought over the years, the kids have made,hand-me-downs and gifts. We love all of them for individual reasons and because together they make up all the years of Christmas that we have shared together.
The Santas are all gifts or belonged to my Mother. I like putting out festive holiday bowls filled with a mix of Christmas materials such as pine cones, cinnamon sticks, chestnuts and things painted gold, red or silver. I also like putting fake snow and Christmas ornament in dishes or bowls.
The little cast iron tree holds many of the most delicate and special of the ornaments my boys have made.
A closer view of our special Santa tree topper and time to go. I hope you enjoyed touring our home for Christmas. I know I enjoyed viewing all the other beautiful homes this Christmas Season!
Merry Christmas to each and everyone of you!!! And a Happy New Year...
Amy
